Recovery Room

A safe space for Black men.

Who We Are

Recovery Room (R&R) is a wellness service initiative created to support the mental and emotional well-being of Black men. Through monthly gatherings, wellness sessions, training and development opportunities, and intentional community connections, R&R offers a safe, welcoming space for positive reflection, healing, growth, and community support. It’s a space where Black men can show up fully, find support, and be reminded they’re not alone.

Too often, Black men shoulder the world’s expectations without a space to release, reset, or simply be. The Recovery Room was created to change that. We envision a dedicated sanctuary i.e. an “emergency room” for the mind, body, and spirit where Black men can:

✔ Be seen, valued, and supported
✔ Connect with purpose and community
✔ Explore positive outlets and creative expression
✔ Access culturally intentional wellness practices
✔ Build relationships that strengthen identity and resilience

Our mission is simple and transformative:
To curate safe spaces for Black men to connect, find purpose, and align within community.

Our vision is bold and necessary:
To improve the overall mental wellness of Black men, one room and one experience at a time.

Help Us Grow Our Vision

A Sanctuary for Black Men. A Movement for Healing. A Blueprint for the Future.

At The Recovery Room, we believe Black men deserve spaces that honor their full humanity. Places where they can breathe, exhale, recalibrate, and reconnect with themselves and one another. What began as a monthly pop-up experience has grown into a powerful community movement rooted in healing, brotherhood, and intentional wellness.

Now, we are building towards our next chapter. A flagship Recovery Room facility in Washington, DC which will be the nation’s first universal wellness center designed specifically for Black men.

The Building Fund Campaign

We are raising funds to establish our permanent home — a space designed with intentionality, culture, and care. The flagship facility will feature curated rooms and experiences tailored to the emotional, spiritual, and communal needs of Black men, including:

  • A quiet room for rest, meditation, and reflection

  • A music and art room for creative expression

  • A reading and resource lounge

  • A game and film room for joy and camaraderie

  • A journaling and restoration room

  • Therapy and coaching spaces

  • Cultural programming and community development opportunities

This will be the model for empowering the next generation of Black men nationwide. A place that sets the bar for what wellness, brotherhood, and community can look like.
